Similarities

* quickly and easily seperates cotton fibers from the seeds

* increased cleaning of cotton seads

* went from 1 lb per day to 50lbs of cotton per day

*interchangeable parts–standardized, identical parts that made for faster assembly and easier repair of various devices

* used hand cranked cylinder with wire teeth

*uses rapid condensation of steam to produce power

*has four main parts: condenser, cylinder, pyston, turbine

*One of the first steam engines was invented by Thomas Savery in 1698

*Large steam engines were used in factories and mills to power machines of all types

*The unit of power (the Watt) was named after inventor James Watt.

*both are part of the industrial revolution 

*they helped the people using it do better (at their job)

*both use interchangeable parts
